Ali, Muthu & Ah Hock (NU Sentral)

Malaysian cuisine can be enjoyed affordably and deliciously. It's a kopitiam (traditional coffee shop), so they don't serve alcohol.

Although it's a chain restaurant, the Nasi Lemak Ayam is said to be directly from the famous "Village Park Restaurant" and is delicious.

A "kopitiam" is a place in Malaysia that's like a casual dining restaurant or coffee shop, similar to a "kissaten" (traditional coffee shop) or "family restaurant" in Japan. The word is a combination of the Malay word "kopi" (coffee) and the Hokkien word "tiam" (shop). When you order Nasi Lemak Ayam, it comes out as fast as a Gyudon dish, lol. It seems they received an award in 2025 as the shop that sold the most Nasi Lemak.

It's not that the restaurant was started by three people named Ali, Muthu, and Ah Hock.

Malaysia has three major ethnic groups (Malay, Indian, and Chinese), and the restaurant was named after common names from each group: Ali (Malay), Muthu (Indian), and Ah Hock (Chinese). The menu includes Malaysian staples like Nasi Lemak, Curry Mee, and Char Kway Teow, as well as sweet Kopi (coffee). Everything is genuinely delicious.
